Kawempe police have arrested and locked in its cell Kawala revival born again Church pastor Yiga Augustine Abizaayo following a complaint by a woman one Angel Ainembabazi a resident of Bushenyi who has allegedly suffered the consequences of rape by pastor Yiga for some good years.
Ainembabazi says that she reported pastor Yiga to police for rape, and neglect of a child.
She says that she was raped by pastor Yiga in 2014 around August when she had gone for special prayers seeking for job and money for her further studies.
“I came to his church when I was young so that they can pray for me and I get a job and money for further studies”
“He promised to pray for me at night, undress me and chase away the ghosts,” she narrated.
“They gave me a room and at around 2 am, pastor Yiga came to pray for me. He touched me and pushed me. I fell on the bed. He overpowered me and raped me.”
They locked her in the same room for a day. The next day, Yiga sent her to South Sudan to start on her a new job.
“I wasn’t getting my periods four months later. I called him but the phone was being picked by others. When he finally picked, he said: “we shall see”. But then the phone went off. He changed it completely.
She added: “I gave birth and raised my child alone. He now wants to go to school and I don’t have school fees.”
By press time Pastor Yiga was still being held at Kawempe police station awaiting the outcome of police investigations.
Many of his followers are camped demonstrating the lock-up of their pastor.
The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango has confirmed the arrest and detaining of pastor Yiga at Kawempe police station.
He added that police cannot release him because he has other cases to answer at Kibuli CID headquarters.
