The outbreak of cholera in Kampala suburb has brought aboard many city authority to get involves, participate and provide strategies in curbing and treating the disease outbreak
Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago has also come out to sensitize the residents of Kabowa where Cholera outbreak was registered and more than 11 were admitted
He has on Friday 11th visited the Cholera survivors who were discharged from the hospital and donated to them relief items which include salt, soap, blankets, and many others.
This followed confirmation by the ministry of health where affected people were admitted at Naguru hospital with cholera cases and out 11 seven were confirmed to be with cholera.
Upon reaching the area Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago was toured by residents to some of the places which might have led to the cause of the outbreak.
Lord Mayor cited some of the causes of cholera which include drinking contaminated water, poor disposal of human wastes and using dirty water for domestic use.
Lukwago noted that he will make sure that the kind of general cleanliness done today should be a routine exercise and ensuring that pipes are in the area.
He further ordered for the immediate reopening of the public toilets in all the surrounding areas to promote proper disposal of human wastes.
Juma Lubega counselor Kabowa zone 1 has appreciated the move taken by Lord Mayor and thanked him equally for the provision of the items to the cholera survivors
Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago provided five hundred thousand shillings to the residents who volunteered and worked together in the carrying out of the general cleanliness of the area.
Lord Mayor also placed in the stand by ambulances for transporting victims and assured the residents that the exercise will keep on
