The Kampala Minister Betty Kamya has appointed Eng Andrew Mubiru Kitaka as the acting Executive Director for Kampala Capital City Authority following the resignation and quit of former boss Jennifer Musisi.
Minister Kamya told journalists on Tuesday that she has used the power given to her by the constitution to remain the acting Executive director in absence of that appointed by president Museveni because.
“I have appointed Engineer Kitaka to be the acting executive Director until a substantive appointment by H.E Yoweri Museveni will be made”
Kitaka was seen as the suitable candidate for the position has been at KCCA for over seven years since 2011 when Musisi took over the position.
“To ensure continuity and smooth running of the city, I have assigned duties of Executive Director to Eng.Andrew Kitaka Mubiru who is substantively the Director engineering and Technical Services at KCCA, ”Kamya said in a statement she released on Tuesday.
In the statement, Sam Sserunkuuma has also been retained at the KCCA Deputy Executive Director.
Speaking during her handover ceremony on Friday, Musisi warned against tampering with the team she has left behind, urging that they should be given time to deliver better results.
“If the management team at KCCA is supported and given time to
continue with their work, they can further develop the city,” Musisi
In response, Kamya allayed fears of a gap left behind by Musisi’s
departure saying she has left behind a competent team that will handle work at KCCA.
“She has left behind a committed team and I assure everyone that there will be no gap in service delivery in Kampala. Work will continue smoothly, ”Kamya said.
