Kasese people demanded the release of Rwenzururu king though president Museveni claim could not resolve for anything about this matter since the case was in Court
Two years back Uganda People’s Defence Force attacked Rwenzururu palace and arrested Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere whereby 100 people reportedly died in the scuffle.
UPDF and police fought Rwenzururu king security guards and destroyed a lot of things in the palace.
The former fallen Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi said that the army attacked palace because Mumbere failed to convince his guards who had caused war against security operatives and many policemen died in this war.
Kaweesi said that there were 41 Rwenzururu place guards killed pinning them for attacking police that caused the death of 14 policemen.
Mumberre was arrested together with 150 people including his prime minister JohnsinThembo Kitsumbire where they were charged over 41include; murder, attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated robbery, treason and malicious damage to property before Magistrate Francis Kaggwa
After two years since Mumbere was arrested Kaseese people are wondering why his case is not proceeding
One of the Kaseese MP Robert Centenary led others and took the case of Mumbere’s unlawful arrest to ICC court and he is worried about all the people were imprisoned on behalf of him wondering why their cases cannot be heard
Centenary said that it would be better for the government to screen out prisoners because many of them are innocent.
He added that they met president Museveni and requested him to let prisoners screened out and accept to sit on a roundtable with Mumbere which he allowed but they have resolved nothing up to now that has tensioned them thinking that it could be government’s intention to let them rote in jail.
Kasese political and cultural leaders want president Museveni to pardon Mumbere and lead him to his palace which became disastrous.
Gad Mbayahi one of the ministers in Rwenzururu palace said that president Museveni would have forgiven Mumbere already but this is delayed because of MPs that took the case to the ICC court though the case was almost forgotten.
However MP Centenary said that they will not give up on this matter because they will continue reminding ICC court about it.
