The government has said they are aware of the political arrogance by a section of people on social media but are taking their time to study the situations before pouncing.
Through their spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo, the government claims that they are laying low with purpose, but will not give it to those threatening violence, as they will be crushed.
“The political hubris being spread on social media, perhaps even instigated and funded by foreign sources including threats of violence will be curtailed by our able government, and will fail. Government perceived laying low is purposeful,” Opondo said.
Ever since the arrest, detention of a section of Members of Parliament and the consequent torture of Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, and Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Butebi Zaake, there have been different protests physically and on social media.
However, the government has been silent on the matter, with many ministers, and NRM members of parliament choosing to sit on the fence.
